The US and Morocco have recently enforced their free trade agreement, generally viewed as the most extensive free trade agreement the US has ever signed with a developing country. To date, in the Arab world, only Morocco and Jordan have FTA agreements with the US.

About H.E. Aziz Mekouar:
Aziz Mekouar is the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United States since 2002. Before his current assignment, he served as Ambassador to Italy (1999-2002), to Portugal (1993-1999) and to Angola (1986-1993). In 2001, he was elected Independent Chairman of the Council of the United Nations Foodand Agriculture Organization (FAO) and re-elected in 2003. Prior to starting his extensive ambassadorial career, Ambassador Mekouar served as ministerplenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Morocco (1985-1986), permanent representative of Morocco to the International Bureau for Information Technology (1978-1985), and first counselor and deputy chief of mission at the Embassy of Morocco in Rome (1977-1985). He holds a master?s degree from the HEC business school in Paris, France and is fluent in 6 languages.
