This is an event announcement from the Moroccan American Civic and Cultural Association based in Boston (MACCA). They plan to serve meals for the homeless. I happen to have realized I am signed in to be there to help out, I signed my name on a recent event thinking that it was a mere collection of attendees :) well I signed myself for this next event apparently. If you're in the Boston area, it would be nice to help these folks help the homeless. At the end of the day, it's not really about showing others that you're better, that you're more privileged, you're a better Muslim, or a better Moroccan. At the end of the day, it's about a person's morale boost because someone thought about them, served them a meal, poured them a cup of coffee and warmed their feelings with a smile and kind words. That person in need of morale boost could easily have been you. You could easily be his morale booster. At any rate, here is what they're planning:
In an effort to live up to its civic mission and to honor its deep commitment to concerns of the community at large, MACCA will be sponsoring a community dinner to benefit the homeless in the city of Malden. MACCA will be funding, cooking, and serving the dinner to about 100 homeless people in a show of compassion and empathy towards the plight and the endurances of others. Our interfaith partners, Seven mile road and foresdale church, will also be collaborating with us on this endeavor.
These are few ways in which you can be of assistance:
1- Donate to the cost of the dinner
2- Help with the logistics of shopping and transportation of foods and volunteers
3- Most importantly help serve the dinner and welcome the guests.
The Dinner will be held at St. Paul's church which is right up the street from MACCA's offices and it is scheduled for Thursday, March 27th at 6 PM
Thank you and May Allah accept from you all.
