It's been a while since I last wrote something in this forum. But It's nice to see new discussions and new people.
I want to ask, especially those living in America, a question about finance. What are the rules and regulations of 401k for foreigners when it is time to withdraw it? by foreigner I mean someone with a status other than US citizenship or resident alien (green card holder). And the same question but for green card holders.
I found this article that partially answers the questions, but what is missing are the rules or treaties between the Moroccan side and the US regarding accounts like 401k. I'm not sure where to get the info there, but will start the search, and I thought I'd drop it on raioo first.
So basically, if a foreigner or greencard holder decides to leave the US and return to their homeland before their retirement age, and wants to start benefiting from their 401k savings, what is the approach (legal of course) that needs to be taken and still incur minimum fees or penalties ? Has anybody done that or knows someone who did?
