A while ago I posted about the gigantic touristic project in Saidia. Some were against and some were for it. I've been following on youtube a local environmental activist who was against the methods, plans and processes used in the building of this project. Recently he posted a video showing an erosion happening very close to the project. I am not an oceanic engineer and do not know what to make of it, but I am guessing this is a natural phenomenon. I am trying to find out how this correlates, if it does, to the gigantic touristic project Mediterrania Saidia. Any experts? any commentators?

I have the feeling the gentelmen speaking in the video is quite upset about what's happening, and is pretty emotional about it, It also sounds like he was very unhappy with the development that took place at the saidia beach previously and therefore I think he could be a little biased. I understand that previous development didn't take into account any Environmental Impact Assessment to take into account the project's possible negative impact on the environment, especially when the areas involves costal waters as well as the location where a major river meets the sea. However one need also to take into consideration the amount of precipitations Morocco has seen in recent months, the volume of water added to te area in very few months from both Africa and Europe, and the chages that are affecting seas and oceans globally due to the melting of the Ice in both poles, el Nineo effect etc. so it is not as simple as blaming it on a construction project only. coastal lines everywhere are seeing an unprecendeted errosion in recent years and it won't end there unless something is done to reduce global warming and the production of green hiouse gases in order to reverse the trend
also - must add that there should be local environmentalists inside the country who can explore this area and give some input. not sure who the narrator is, but would be good to get an actual environmental scientist's feedback.
wow those waters do look very muddied and reddish with soil runoff.. i would forward that to a local beach environmentalist or maybe just try to do some research at least and see if similar situations have resulted from other beach tourism development projects.
gorgeous coastal area overall though. makes me want to go there :)
