Amina Alaoui
06:26:03 PM Sunday Oct 21, 2007

If any of you have seen Ismael Ferroukhi's great film "Le Grand Voyage" you may have noticed a really beautiful ghernati/andaloussi song they used in the soundtrack. I just found out it's called "Ode d'ibn el Arabi" and it's sung by the amazing Amina Alaoui. What can I say - I'm in love!! Her contemporary work is pretty amazing too, but when she starts to sing Andaloussi, aaaaaaaaah now that is real music, that is really beautiful......

anyone know more about this great artist?? have any other songs to share, especially gharnati/andaloussi?

here are a couple of brief clips for your listening pleasure. sadly they are way too short!! give me more!!!!!!

Just finished the last of my mid-terms today. Now I can breath, for another week or so. And what a treat it was to listen to Amina Alaoui in your post. She has an amazing voice. I have an mp3 file of one of her vocal sessions... just sensational. You pop in that cd at dusk in the backyard, and it can just lift you up.
