Sound-Bites & Clichés
08:56:15 PM Tuesday Mar 10, 2009

If you had the power; what sound-bite or cliché would you banish from the English language? And why?
Some of these sound-bites seem to be unique to a particular country; others seem to be able to travel well. A close examination of the use of these clichés can tell a lot about the countries using them and their relationship with other countries.
“AT THE END OF THE DAY” is the worst one as far as I am concerned.

It is meant to be a light hearted look at the daily use of the english language. I did not specify whether it was the written or the spoken english because most - if not all - the sound-bites occur in the spoken language, in the written language there is the luxary of "EDIT". another memorable one was when Tony Blair (British PM) said: "This is no time for sound-bites, I feel the hand of destiny on my shoulder..."

At the end of the day, is not bad. I mean it's spoken English, we're not supposed to use it in writing, are we? I hear people say: The thing is.. when they try to explain something. Is that the sort of thing you're referring to? are there called sound-bites and cliches? I have no clue..
