wait, Rachid Ghoulam was at your event??? no way...

he's done shows in algiers too..
I knew someone once who used to sing nashid for al3adl wal ihsane. I wonder if he ever sang with Rachid Ghoulam. pretty popular guy. I haven't heard some of these nashids in ages.

but "nashid" is not the same as "music" and it's this kind of stuff that I meant. Oum Koulthoum and AbdelHaleem used to sing stuff like that too, mdih music, hard to find those songs now..

Driss, you have some great shots up in there!
IMG_5441 is very captivating, the three faces form a subtle curve that makes it comfortable for the eye to see, the expression of the man in middle in focus tells how much intrigued by the qanunist and violinist tunes.

Well done!

I thought it was entertaining and educating. I learned a few things about the histroy of sacred music. I hope they repeat this again with more music, more time for discussions, and hopefully more depth to these discussions. The subject of whether music can be used as a means to getting closer to God is fascinating and extremely philosophical. Sometimes music that some would consider very sacred doesn't do it for me, and sometimes it does; at times, music that is far from being sacred ends up changing the way I think. This is clearly too complicated for me to write about :)
